Mapeguard UM 35 [NA] is an uncoupling, crack isolation, waterproofing, and vapor management membrane manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with a roughened surface and a polypropylene fabric backing. Mapeguard UM 35 [NA] is designed for the installation of ceramic and stone tile, including over existing non-cushioned resilient flooring, ceramic tile, and stone tile. It is designed to perform over difficult substrates, such as young concrete and 19 mm (3/4 in.) single-ply plywood subfloors with joist spacing up to 49 cm (19.2 in.) on center.
Suitable Substrates: Concrete | Young (green) concrete cured and capable of supporting tile-setting traffic, as determined by the project design professional, construction manager, or general contractor | Cement-based mortar beds, self-leveling underlayments, and leveling coats | Industry-approved exterior-grade plywood and APA SturdI-Floor OSB, Exposure 1 (interior, dry areas only). Plywood underlayments must be Group 1 CC-plugged or better exterior-grade plywood meeting the APA classification and U.S. Product Standard PS 1-95, or CANPLY exterior-grade plywood rated "SELECT" or (SEL-TF) meeting CSA-0121 for Douglas fir for direct bonding (interior, residential, and light commercial floors and countertops in dry conditions only). | Existing ceramic or stone tile (interior only) | Existing vinyl flooring - vinyl composition tile (VCT), gypsum underlayment or lightweight concrete (When using Mapeguard UM 35 [NA] over gypsum-based patching or leveling compounds, refer to the technical bulletin titled "Installing Tile Over Gypsum").
